SOFIA CARSON: My gut reaction was, Ive been Alex Rose.
In a way, I feel like Alex Rose is all of us.
Life is hard and complicated and messy, and sometimes we feel lost in life.
And little Sofia was quite the dreamer.
I dreamt of being in movies.

And riding in a hot air balloon, which I actually got to do.
What was that like to figure out?
I love how well we get to know her and your relationship through the DVDs shes left behind.

We met that day, which is part of the magic of filmmaking.
Its a testament to the brilliance of Adam Brooks, our director and writer, and Connie Britton.
The choice to cast her as Elizabeth Rose was perfect.
She walks into the room and she is warmth and sunlight embodied.
It was such a joy.
Adam and Connie were so thoughtful in how they brought to life the DVDs.

Netflix’s newest film is a light in one of the darkest human experiences.
I really appreciated how this is a list of things that a person can actually complete.
The Life List follows Alex Rose as she embarks on a journey to complete her childhood bucket list at her mother’s behest. Through this quest, she navigates family secrets, discovers romance, and undergoes personal self-discovery, all while balancing moments of humor and emotion.
Was that always the case, or did the list get tweaked?
Did you get to give any input into any of the things on the list?
CARSON: I take no credit.
As Elizabeth says, Its a map of who you are.
The beauty of that list really was Alex Rose.

On paper, it felt like he might have been, but he wasnt hers.
But each of the boys did such a fantastic job of bringing their characters to life.
We just melted into each relationship pretty effortlessly.
It was a joy to bring to life.
What was it like to shoot Alex showing up at Brads place to really pour her heart out.
How challenging is it to get that big romantic moment right?

The ‘Descendants’ alum collaborates with Netflix again in this film about living life to the fullest.
Was that something you ever imagined people would want?
I remember that day vividly.
It was a thrill bringing that movie to life.
It was a tremendously validating experience when it was received the way that it was received.
Did that set the bar so high that it would make a sequel impossible to live up to?
So many classics dont have sequels and I think thats for a reason.
The movie was based on a book that had an ending.
This new clip features the original song “Come Back Home” sung by Sofia Carson.
What is it like to be able to do things like that?
CARSON: Thats one of the greatest privileges of what I get to do.
You live dreams and you really do get to live moments that feel like a dream.
Performing at the Academy Awards with Diane Warren was a dream.
Singing with Andrea Bocelli at Madison Square Garden was a dream.
I have to pinch myself because I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
Its probably easier to sing for The Muppets than it is to sing with Andrea Bocelli.
Singing for Elmo was easy-peasy.
He was an easy audience.
