TV Line reports thatTika Sumpterhas been cast in the medical drama as John’s love interest, Laila.
The character is described as “an intelligent and warm pediatric oncologist who cares deeply for her patients.”
Sumpter will appear in the two-part season finale airing on Sunday, May 4.

Thepremiere episode was seenby 18.7 million multiplatform viewers, with Paramount+ accounting for 7 million of streaming viewers.
Season 2 is expected to premiere in the 2025-2026 TV season.
