My daughter is 24 or 25 right now, and my son is 17.

So they’re older.

It’s sort of a bonding show for them.

So, I was introduced to them through my kids.

And because these true crime episodes are always a challenge, but also a joy to break.

And, yeah, so it was super fun.

Well, did your kids get to meet them when they came on to set?

HAWLEY: Yes, they came to set.

As you’ve seen, I’m in the episode a little bit.

HAWLEY: Yes, well, that’s very spoilery.

So I think Monica and Oscar are both that, although in very different ways.

I mean, we’ll definitely see them again this season, I can say, without spoiling it.

Is he going to be more of a threat?

How soon is this threat going to be present?

HAWLEY: God, you want me to spoil everything?

I have to talk about the Chenford of it all.

That just feels very human to me.

And so I think, as we go forward, you will just see that.

But you never know further down the road.

But for now, I think that story is told.

I loved this season when you guys had the wildfire episode.

I thought that was such a fun episode.

HAWLEY: I mean, it’s one of the things we definitely do.

I mean, we’ve done earthquakes before.

We’ve done other kinds of natural disasters and stuff like that.

And even a missile alert, which was in some ways a bit of a disaster.

I mean, I think they’re really part of the language of the show.

So I do think that that helped that episode.

And, yeah, we’re always looking for the next thing.

And obviously, you’re always walking a line on stuff that feels real and connected.

Will We See Tru Valentino’s Aaron Again in ‘The Rookie’?

“I think we’ll definitely see him again down the road.”

I know that there was a mention of Tru Valentino’s character in Episode 13.

The Rookie

Is there any chance that we could see Aaron again?

HAWLEY: Yeah, no, no, definitely, for sure.

Ok, I’m looking forward to that for sure.

I feel like I was really disappointed when he wasn’t coming back.

HAWLEY: Look, I hear you.

But, yes, no, look, I agree.

We keep needing new rookies along the way, and you just have to navigate it.

HAWLEY: I mean, we don’t resolve anything.

I don’t know that anything can be resolved at this point.

Obviously, we’ve been very focused on this from early days.

And we’ve carried it forward in bigger and smaller storylines.

How are we still talking about it when others might not be?

Do the Fans of ‘The Rookie’ Influence the Show and Its Direction?

“I have a very complicated relationship with social media.”

This show has a very active and vocal fan base.

HAWLEY: I don’t think so.

I mean, to be honest, I have a very complicated relationship with social media.

[Laughs] So how’s that as an answer to your question?

I think, at the end of the day, I don’t know.

I mean, obviously,I do hear people are not happy.

And hope that the audience goes with us, and they have.

And so she then confesses being in love with him, and ultimately, it was a sike moment.
