Perhaps it is because he is one of the few who appear in every book.

Or it could be because he very nearly made it into the films.

Cutting Peeves also opened up opportunities for other characters.

While Peeves is the only poltergeist introduced in the series, he isn’t entirely unique.

In the books, Peeves is a troublemaker known to cause chaos in Hogwarts for students and professors alike.
