Unlike the previous entry, this is a mistake the DCU is already avoiding.

8Killing too many villains.

Getting rid of these excellent villains too early will impact the greater story andlessen the potential for future plotlines.

While there are more villains than heroes, that doesn’t mean movies can rotate through every character.

Havingone-and-done villains diminishes these fascinating characters, who are a big part of their counterparts.

7Don’t announce things so early.

Years of painful waiting

Most of these mistakes relate to the actual movies, not the production.

This tactic was beloved, with fans anticipating the announcements and future movie releases.

However, it’s hard to trust these long wait times after cancelations and delayed listings.

Don’t rely on nostalgia.

Fanservice momentsadd nothing to the plot and often rely on cheap nostalgiaor momentary hype.

Marvel has many incredible cameos, but these fan service moments have gone too far.

DC can use some fan service but must ensure they don’t go overboard like inThe Flash.

5Don’t rush things.

We don’t need a world-ending event right away.

However, after that, they began rushing into a new storyline right away without setting it up properly.

TheDCU doesn’t need to throw in Darkseid or Doomsday immediatelyor introduce an important storyline.

The MCU and DCU wouldn’t exist without the phenomenal comics that introduced these timeless characters.

Gunn is already doing an excellent job by recommending comics and saying which ones influence the movies.

Examples of this areGuy Gardner’s goofy haircutandSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowbeing a direct adaptation.

This is a crucial step to honor the legacy of comics and highlight their importance.

We don’t need four movies a year.

As previously mentioned in this article, too much of a good thing can be harmful.

Whether fans believe in superhero fatigue or not, oversaturation is perhaps the biggest issue hurting Marvel.

The DCU needs to be successful, butthe answer isn’t four or more projects a year.

Patience is a virtue, especially in today’s entertainment landscape.

2Lack of a cohesive plan.

Don’t get lost in movies.

However, the MCU lost its groove and didn’t have a plan after dealing with Thanos.

A plan is the perfect way to maintain balance.

1Spectacle over narrative.

Focus on storytelling.

The spectacle is fun, but ifSupermanhas a great narrative, it will be more memorable and influential.

Giving fans quality stories and memorable movies is an excellent way for theDCU to be better than Marvel.
