Warner Bros. has hired Gunn to build the new DC Universe alongsidePeter Safran.
The character previously appeared inSmallville, where he was portrayed byAaron Ashmore.
Jimmy Olsen was seen on live-action television once again when he was played byMehcad BrooksinSupergirl.
Supermanpremieres in theaters on July 11.
