While he always had sticks in hand, he never imagined he would be doing it as a career.
It was there that his passion for drumming began.

Grohl had no formal training beyond a single introductory lesson.
There is music to be played, and history to be made.
It was during his time with Scream that Grohlcrossed paths with his future Nirvana bandmates.

After watching him perform live,Kurt Cobaincommented that they needed a drummer like Grohl.
Early on, he was drawn to classic rock bands likeThe Beatles,Rush,KISS, andAC/DC.
As a teenager, he listened almost exclusively to punk, attending shows by bands likeMinor ThreatandFugazi.

As his drumming evolved, so did his influences.
Grohl began to admire rock legends likeLed Zeppelinand especiallyJohn Bonham.
What he would agree is that he isnt a good drummer, from a technical standpoint.
Not long after reaching global fame, the Eurovision winners decided to take an “indefinite” hiatus.
For Grohl, the goal in music isnt technical perfection.
“[Dave is] such a great drummer, and he plays drums so unlike everyone else.
And he comes up with drum parts as well.
“It makes a difference when you listen to Dave play.
You hear someone that’s playing drums as a songwriter.
