Did you have any idea how much more complicated things were going to get?
GUGU MBATHA-RAW: There were never any guarantees.
I dont think we definitely knew that the series was picked up for a second season.
But we didnt know if wed get to do it.
It was like, Oh, my gosh, I so want this to happen.
I want to see where this character goes.

To have such exciting twists and turns that were, we were all desperate to do it.
And doing it at home was just lovely.
MBATHA-RAW: Being in London was very special.
It was all pre-planned in her head.
It was an incredible thing that Hello Sunshine and Apple graciously allowed her to do.
Its incredible that we were allowed to do that.
I was privy to a lot of the story arcs and plots earlier than [the other actors].
It wasnt so much the surprises for us.
Im excited for the surprises for the audience.

Butwhat was exciting was the execution of this world.
We really were in these locations and thats something we didnt really have in Season 1.
Vancouver was amazing, but we got a limited amount of time in San Francisco.
This season was all shot in London, so we got to revel in the rich locations.
The Apple TV+ series feels like a soft reboot of its previously fractured self.
BRADY: It was so incredible.
She wants to do it differently.
We see someone who wants a different life and its really tricky to do that.
I loved that they show that struggle in such a sensitive way.
That was something that was really poignant to play.
Oliver, James has been through a bit of a roller coaster with Sophie.
Why do you think he decides to go after her?
JACKSON-COHEN: I would have probably just stayed and been like, You know what?
Its a long flight.
Ill just stay in San Francisco.
She could be anywhere.
This is the first time Ive ever done a second season of a show, which is quite interesting.
Ive never, ever continued a character on like that, with the journey that it can go on.
Maybe he should have stayed at home.
But if he had stayed home, we wouldnt have this very exciting season.
This series is really interesting because its full of characters where none of them are really good guys.
Is there something thats just fun about playing human beings that are flawed and complicated?
MBATHA-RAW: Oh, my God, yes!
To speak for myself, thats what I look for in all characters.
What if I did live in this world?
If I could just send somebody off for any things that I did wrong, would I?
If I could expose somebody for an injustice in my family, would I go for it?
Those are big moral questions.
It will be interesting to see how people feel about the Huntleys, and especially someone like Quinn.
Theres so much questionable stuff that comes from this dark place.
MBATHA-RAW: And then, you look at the generations.
JACKSON-COHEN: I love your question about the grey because its very, very true with our show.
BRADY: Its representative of reality as well.
Its not like were doing as bad of stuff as theyre doing.
The Apple TV+ thriller returns to the streamer on February 21.
That grey area makes them more unpredictable.
After two seasons, how do you feel about where the arcs of your characters have been left?
Do you want more?
Are you hoping for another season?
MBATHA-RAW: Theres so much potential.
JACKSON-COHEN: Im sure some genius somewhere has an idea in their head.
Its such a massive part of our lives.
MBATHA-RAW: And certainly not with this.
It asks and opens up a lot more questions about the characters.
All of our characters have toughened up a lot over Season 2.
Theres a hardness to them, but theres still a vulnerability that everybody has.
Thats an interesting place to go further.
