Collider: We met talking about theAftermovies, and your character in those is really the quintessential bad boy.
With this movie, youre playing someone whos really just a nice guy.
HERO FIENNES TIFFIN: You make a very good point.
I probably wasnt aware of how much I would enjoy that.
Its not like I was searching for something different.
I loved playing Hardin.

Charlie is just a guy that seems to know who he is and who has his life together.
FIENNES TIFFIN: Its that self-assurance, and he did have his life together.
But the grass is always greener.
FIENNES TIFFIN: Dont get me wrong, Id still be happy after playing Hardin.
It didnt seep through and feel like it was torturing me.
That has stuff about it thats exciting and fun too.

What makes Pia fill some way for him is how down-to-earth and reliable and dependable he is.
Often, with these stories, the ladies are attracted to a heartthrob for some bigger performative reason.
It was just nice and refreshing to play a character who was just grounded and dependable.
Because of that, it never seems like hes cheating on his date with Pia.
FIENNES TIFFIN: Lets talk about that.
Our director, Prarthana [Mohan], was fundamental in making that make sense and making it work.

That was something that we had to get the measurements right on.
Its also funny that she just keeps reappearing and wants to have fun.
FIENNES TIFFIN: She was great.
Shes just always having so much fun and is so happy to be there.
She gets something that she wants at the end, as well.
But I think we all came together and made it work.

Theres a lightness and sweetness to the tone of this.
Did you have conversations about that, or did that just feel like where it naturally sat?
FIENNES TIFFIN: There were conversations.
Picture This follows Pia, a single woman running a struggling photography studio in London, as she navigates familial pressure and a prophecy from a spiritual guru. Encouraged to find love in her next five dates, Pia embarks on a comedic and heartfelt journey orchestrated by her family.
It feels like such an ensemble piece, and everyone brings something different to it.
When did you and Simone Ashley meet?
Did you guys immediately have a sense of what that dynamic would be?
She made it feel like the set was just going to be fun.
We were just going to have fun while shooting this.
Her professionalism was unmatched, but also her ability to keep it lighthearted and fun.
So, we actually met, for the first time, when we were both in the doctors office.
Simone is just really personable and fun to be around.
What do you think she brought to this that affected your performance?
Thats funny to watch, and from my perspective, it feels like she carried that scene.
It was a pleasure.
It didnt feel like I needed her to do anything differently to help me do my bit.
She made it easy for me.
It was really vivid.
Every sense is exposed to what would make you feel like youre really there.
It was great fun.
It was just as fun, if not more fun, than it looked on screen.
Do you think Charlie and Pia were meant for each other?
FIENNES TIFFIN: I do think so.
From day one, hed be saying, Do it like this, or do it like that.
Id be lying if I didnt say that I felt some sort of responsibility.
I felt like there was a mark to hit.
You cant just say its a completely fabricated character.
He is how he is.
People are going to have an expectation.
And I dont think theres a better man for the job than Guy.
I just trusted him so much.
It was a pleasure.
Im really, really excited for people to see what weve done.
FIENNES TIFFIN: What was most interesting about that is the fact its young Sherlock.
One example of that is combat.
At the start, he cant handle himself in combat, but were going to grow from there.
What is it that you look for now in projects?
FIENNES TIFFIN: Probably days off and a sunny location.
Im obviously completely joking there.
Ive always said that the grass is always greener.
Whichever character Ive played recently, Im intrigued to play a character whos very different from that.
I dont think theres a blueprint where I tell my agent what to look for.
You take each one as it comes.
There might be something that I didnt know Id be excited about, that I became excited about.
Ive got no idea whats next, but Im excited regardless.
Are the roles youre playing the roles you pictured yourself playing?
Sherlock, as well.
Picture Thisis available to stream on Prime Video.
