It’s just like a weird group of words where you go, Is that Savage?
It’s fun.There was trouble on set [with] not laughing during the take, for sure.
Episode 7 has the patient that Mel immediately clocks as needing extra care, recognizing that he’s autistic.

DEARDEN: It’s great.
I really liked the way that episode was written.
That was Val [Chu], who wrote that one.

I thought it was really good.
How much were you told in advance?
DEARDEN: We sat down with Scott and John, and they just went through itlike, everything.
Like, Here’s where you’re from.
I think Mel tried with Robby, and he moves around too much and has too much to do.
Then she found Langdon.

There were lines that, a few times, said, I love babies.
I don’t know if they’re still there, but yeah, that’s how that informed me.
What was it like to film, technically?
DEARDEN: It was actually fascinating for us because it was a puppet team that did it.
Youre already like, Puppets?
DEARDEN: We knew there was going to be an eventwe didn’t knowwhatevent.
No actor will ever say it’s enough time with a script.
It’ll be like, I wish I had more.
So, it’s kind of like, Oh, someone slips out.
And I was like, Oh, really?
And he was like, Yeah, that would work, so start building to there.
But a lot of it is just asking.
Can you share what you pitched to Noah?
What else would we be doing?
We’re the ones who run towards the fire, often.
That’s another one: fire departments are heavily ADHD.
And he goes, You don’t know whats written, and thats perfect.
A lot of those are real, for sure.
It was really intense for everyone anyway.
Also, to have a whole new group of background actors that you’re not used to working with.
DEARDEN: I think it’s a combo of both.
Her parents are gone.All three hit her at the same time, and it’s just overwhelming.
