Summary
MacPhersons character, Xavier Baxter, experienced a game-changing second season.
Soon after, he returns to the land of the living, but is changed forever.
He can still see the ghosts in the hospital, including Maddies father.

MACPHERSON: We did shoot a front part of that scene.
That kind of fleshed things out a little bit.
So, the first tactic is he can’t meet his gaze.

That was a big choice in Season 1.
In the second one, Xavier becomes fire.
I’ll jump to the scene toward the end with Peyton [List].

Some of my first scenes I got to do onSchool Spiritswere with Peyton, the flashback sequences.
She’s so fantastic in the show and such a good actress, and I loved that scene.
We shot that scene, like, four different ways.
Set in the fictional town of Split River, Wisconsin, the show follows Maddie, a teen girl stuck in the afterlife investigating her own mysterious disappearance; she goes on a crime-solving journey as she adjusts to high school in the afterlife, but the closer she gets to the truth, the more secrets and lies she discovers.
One was that they can both see the fisherman.
Oh, that is so interesting!
This leans into that a little.
Hopefully I can articulate this well enough.
At this point in the show, Nicole and Claire firmly believe in what happened to Maddie.
Simon was able toseeMaddie while she was on the other side.
Then Xavier has this completely unique experience where he’s had first-hand experience dying and seeing ghosts.
How will his unique experience impact how he navigates this situation versus how they will?
He can’tseeghosts, but he has intuition about it, sort of like a medium or something.
Simon says something to Maddie, and he looks over where Simon was talking, stuff like that.
I have two follow-up questions.
I’ll stick with the relationship Maddie has with her dad.
Like when he says, I met your dad, the moment after that, And?!
The conversation that ensues, I’d love to watch that.
I think about that all the time!
You were one of my favorite people to track in that particular scene!
MACPHERSON: Oh, thank you!
Theres room for a lot of humor in how intently he’s focused.
He’s trying to listen, but it’s like he’s millimeters off.
[Laughs] I like the idea of that concept.
I’ll end with two questions that are a little more theory but kind of fun.
Let’s say that in the new season, Xavier could see the ghosts at the high school.
Who would you most want to see him have a conversation with in Season 3?
MACPHERSON: Oh my gosh, that’s so tough.
I actually think that Rhonda and Xavier have kind of similar vibes.
Maybe they would crack on.
I would like to see that.
MACPHERSON: Also, I’m just thinking, Yuri and Xavier would probably have a good sesh.
I don’t know.
Do you know what I mean?
They’re both kind of stoner-y vibes.
Yeah, Id believe that.
I feel like they’re somehow on the same wavelength.
I was also happy you started with Milo because Im in a panic about where they end his storyline.
MACPHERSON: I know!
I have no idea where it’s going.
I want Wally to find peace, but I also need him to stay.
MACPHERSON: I need another dance number.
I need more Milo.
That’s what I need to manifest, more dance numbers in this show!
Alright, here’s my last theory/sillier question for you.
MACPHERSON: I gotta go with Wally because he’s just got such a strut.
Wally would just be out and in some gray sweats.
That would be really fun to do.
