Check out what he had to say after the jump.
EDGAR RAMIREZ: Yeah, its a very thin line.
Even if we had we would not be imitating those, we would be recreating those.
This is a very epic story that spans continents, lovers, and years.
What was the shoot like?
Did you travel to a lot of places or did you use some camera trickery to fake it?
RAMIREZ: It was a road movie.
We had to go to many places.
So In Spain we had it all.
We tried to reflect that on the movie.
While I have you here, I have to touch on a couple other things.
I have to ask about thePoint Breakremake.
RAMIREZ: Of course.
Is that something you were a fan of going into it?
I cannot believe that Im making that movie.
Its almost magic, the whole thing.
I remember I would always joke among my friends about a remake ofPoint Break.
I would say, You know what?
Whenever theres a remake ofPoint Break, Im going to do it.
Then suddenly making that movie now, its pure magic.
Im very, very happy.
So Im the first huge fan ofPoint Breakand of course I will confirm that I protect its legacy.
I cant wait to see it.
Do you know when you start production and begin shooting?
RAMIREZ: Three weeks.
Oh my goodness, its right upon you.
RAMIREZ: Yeah, right upon me.
I cant wait to see some footage.
RAMIREZ: Oh my God, Im so excited.
Whats the status onHolland, Michigan?
Is that something thats still happening?
RAMIREZ: Yeah, it is happening.
It is happening sometime next year, I guess.
That is also something that keeps me very, very excited.
Hes such a renowned documentarian, has he talked to you about why hes excited to make this feature?
RAMIREZ: Because it is a great story, and also aesthetically has a lot of possibilities.
And hes a true artist, hes a visual artist.
Its very different from the conventional documentary that you watch out there.
And that is great.
If you could translate that into a feature, that visual imagery that he has, its very exciting.
Just beyond working with him, what was it about the script that you liked?
RAMIREZ: What can I tell you?
Exactly what you feel [laughs].
Imagine havingRaging Bullon your corner as your trainer, this legendary American boxing trainer Ray Arcel.
It was such a humbling and transformative experience.
I mean, to work with him, such a nice, generous guy curious, avid.
And such a generous person, both as a person and as an actor.
Do you have any idea when we might see a trailer or some footage?
RAMIREZ: I think next year, probably.
