Then, viewership waned as the show continued, and the original judges left.

Finally, Fox canceled the show entirely.

ABC picked up the singing competition in 2016, butnothing could fix how pointlessAmerican Idolhad become.

Yet, the show persists despite it being totally irrelevant now.

‘American Idol’ Has Not Had a Big Star in Years

American Idolmade superstars when it began.

There are no superstars from modernAmerican Idol, unlessyou countBenson Boone,whonotably quit.

In recent years,American Idolhas been unable to produce a star.

The show also focuses too much on the backstories of contestants.

Although very wholesome, that is part of the reason no superstars come out ofAmerican Idolanymore.

Abdul and Jackson balanced outCowell, known for his borderline cruel honesty.

However, Season 23 brought in Season 4 winnerCarrie Underwoodas a judge, replacing wildcard judgeKaty Perry.

Although current judgesLionel RichieandLuke Bryanfound balance with Perry, they have been unable to do the same with Underwood.

Unfortunately, the currentAmerican Idoljudges leave much to be desired.
