An endless source of popular memes,SpongeBobhas endured in the public consciousness through social media memes.
Unfortunately,SpongeBobhasn’t felt like itself in about 20 years.
Most fans regard the first three seasons as its Golden Era, and they’re right.

Like all of these later seasons, finding an amusing gag takes some digging.
There are a few segments that are stylistically varied, including “Squidferatu.”
Another completely forgettable season.
Squidward getting stuck in an elevator with SpongeBob and Patrick has traces of fun, Mrs.
Meanwhile, the season swings and misses with another stop-motion animated episode.
It just goes to show how difficult it is to capture the essence of such an iconic character.
Season eight was the first to try this out in “It’s a SpongeBob Christmas!
“and watching it again is proof that the gimmick never worked.
As for the rest of the season, there’s not much of interest.
Without Hillenburg as the main creative driving force, the show could never resemble its former self.
Though they’re pretty similar overall, seven seems a bit worse.

There’s more self-awareness here that doesn’t work, like a “conveniently timed flashback.”
If it weren’t for those clip-shows, however, this season wouldn’t stand out.
On the whole, though, these segments don’t amount to very much.

There’s also the close-ups of SpongeBob and Mrs.
Puff in “Nautical Novice” and an amusing live-action soda commercial in “Sun Bleached.”
Whatever it was,SpongeBobwas able to briefly display an ability to at least mildly entertain its audience.

Puff (one ofthe show’s most underrated characters) is teaching SpongeBob in a cemetery.
Especially weak episodes include “Krusty Katering” and “Sportz.”
