Their constant back-and-forth banter captured the hearts of audiences everywhere.

Shes clumsy and sweet, and she doesnt have a mean bone in her body.

But it also has some really awful ones, becauseLorelai wasnt always the friend Sookie deserved.

No friendship is perfect, but Lorelai was a little abrasive at times.

If anyone should understand this, it should be Lorelai, as she experienced motherhood herself.

Suddenly Lorelai delivers an extremely cruel and uncalled-for comment,“When did you become a relationship expert?

You haven’t been in a relationship in years.

Lorelais approach to their friendship definitely wouldnt fly today.

Shes got a great job, and a nice house.

She makes sure Rory has everything she needs, but that’s sort of where it ends.

Her refusal to speak with her parents on most occasions is a big indication of this.

Which is similarly just irresponsible financially.

But at the same time, Lorelai is also quite selfish.

For example,Sookie and Jackson.

But her constant inserting herself into other peoples lives would not go over well today.

They were still kids, she shouldnt be faulted for that.

But by the time the show begins, Lorelai is 32, and her commitment issues are horrific.

Only, she never does, because she gets in her head and self-sabotages.

She is rarely able to vocalize what she wants or needs from a relationship.

Instead, she just broke things off and disappeared from his life.

She did the same thing multiple times in her relationship with Luke.

Emily (Kelly Bishop) even told Lorelai flat out one time that she was hurt.

Lorelai didnt tell her about her engagement to Max.

But the road to getting there is painful to watch.

Emily and Richard(Edward Hermann) were not the best parents.

If she had, she could have saved herself a lot of heartache.

It was never meant to be, something that is proven in their multiple encounters throughout the show.

Christopher is too immature and too emotionally unavailable.

Lorelai is the hip, young mom.

Shes cool, shes quirky, and thats why their banter is always so good.

But Lorelais parenting style would not fly today it barely flew then.

This is great story-wise, but in actuality its a bit problematic.
