There are plenty of elements that can make or break a film.
Another big element of that sort is character development.

It has plenty of those, but it would have been a far better film with stronger character development.
Was a new installment in the story of Andy’s toys needed after the faultless conclusion ofToy Story 3?
That’s for certain, asthe movie’s box office definitely proves.

Even still, the main thing holdingToy Story 4back from being at least somewhat greatis its poorly-written character development.
It doesn’t seem to have any interest whatsoever in developing its characters in any significant way.
Sadly,Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destinyfailed to meet said expectationsand then some.

For starters, the character writing leaves lots to be desired.
It’s not exactly a so-bad-it’s-good kind of film, either.
